One of the great joys is talking to some of you clients about what’s going on not only in our country but in our world. I was sharing words with a Professor (by the way Alexandra says hello) about how my view has changed about the concept of compulsory 2 year Military service for all young men and women. Now granted if they are “honesty” a conscientious objector I can respect that, we’ll just put them in another military style organization where they go forth and help other Americans. In the process we teach them skills, honor, discipline, consequences and that life is “not all about them”. Think of it as Military humanitarian missions Corps without the guns. They do everything else drill, PT and anything else I can’t think of that will instill the same benefits of basic. After which they go off into specializations like medical, civil engineering, forestry, disaster recovery, search and rescue etc…. The point is, we’ve raised a generation of mamby pamby self centered, ego-centric, blame everyone else, eternal victims with a sense of entitlement.
Let be honest for many, not all, we’ve made it way too easy. How many of you when we were kids had to cut lawns, wash cars, shovel drive ways to earn money to get what we wanted ? I know I did and I’m a better man today because of it.
Is it just me ? Am I the only one who’s seeing the pending consequences of a generation if over indulged young men and women?
Yes there are exceptions and if you’re kid is one of them then my rant doesn’t apply to you and I salute you on a job well done. Don’t complex over it.
What happened to ideals of real hero’s who knew the easy way out only led to more trouble?
*sigh*
Just think, today’s heroes for young minds are people like Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Kid Rock.
